I work with them in preparing for and carrying out their birth plan by providing emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint. l also help mothers and their partner’s find the information they need to make informed decisions. I encourage and train dads to provide comfort and encouragement and to be their partner’s advocate when she is not in a position to speak for herself.

Studies have shown that when doulas attend births, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.

Certified Lactation Counselors(CLC) have received training and competency verification in breastfeeding and lactation support. I teach breastfeeding classes, assess the babies latch and feeding process, while providing corrective interventions, and counseling to mothers. I understand that all women may not be afforded the opportunity to exclusively breastfeed so I also provide assistance to moms who are both breast and bottle feeding as well as exclusively bottle feeding. I can help with information on tongue tie, cleft palate and weaning. My goal is to provide support and encouragement to all mothers who are looking to have a positive feeding experience.

Childbirth Educators work with laboring moms and their partner’s helping provide educational, emotional and physical support in preparation for the delivery of their child. I teach private In-home Childbirth and Breastfeeding classes as well as group classes.
